FIRST LOOK INTRO 00:51 min 2006 direction + music : Andy Lyon This was part of the USC First Look student film festival design package I did for the animation program (DADA). It included DVD packaging, DVD menu design, postcard invitation, and intro animation which played in the begining of the DVD as well as in HD before the show. I felt that past designs didn't make enough of a distinction between the animation and live action shows, which are both part of the festival. I wanted to add a little concept, narrative, and fun to the package in hopes to better reflect what goes on inside the animation program. The idea was to put a twist on the convention of a giant killer robot attacking a city. This robot uses its technological prowess to surround Los Angeles with beauty. I also just wanted an excuse to don a cardboard robot costume and dance around like a fool.
